Assad’s War on Churches

Not many seem to be aware that the Assad regime has been waging a war on Syria’s Mosques, but even less are aware that churches have not been spared from its barbaric violence either. The above video is a short Jazeera report on the destruction of holy sites by the Assad regime, which includes footage of damage from the bombardments and shelling of the Umm Zenar Church (see the picture as well), which is one of the oldest churches in the world, as well as the Sayyida Salam Church, and the Mar Iliyan Church, all of them in Homs, as well as churches elsewhere. The following is a short Arabiya report on the Umm Zenar Church:

In this post I will try to list all the churches in Syria that have suffered from bombardments and shelling, by collecting footage thereof and of the damage that was caused. The list is far from complete and still being updated.
